Attendance

How Absences Work

  • If your child is marked absent or tardy, you will receive a message through ParentSquare.
  • When you receive the notification, click on “Send Note to School and enter the reason for the absence—no need to use a separate form or platform.
  • Once submitted, your school’s attendance staff will receive your note and if approved, update your child’s attendance record in Infinite Campus.
  • All notes are securely logged in ParentSquare, helping schools maintain accurate records.

Other Options for Families

Families may also continue to provide a written absence note directly to the classroom teacher or school office.

Student Absences & Late Arrival

Regular attendance and punctuality are important from the beginning of the school year until the last day. Frequent absences and tardies interfere with your child's progress toward learning the necessary basic skills.

Note that there will be no dismissal of students after 1:45pm.

Excused Absences

  • Personal illness (please state type of illness)

  • Medical/Dental appointments (must provide a doctor’s note)

  • Death in family

  • Religious Observance

  • Approved Educational Leave/College Tours (Submit 5 days in advance)

  • Court or Administrative proceedings

NOTE: Parents can no longer call the office to report a student's absence; they must send a note via ParentSquare or send an email to the school in order for the absence to be excused. Until a note is received by the attendance office, all absences above are unexcused. Please attempt to make all elective medical and dental appointments for times before or after school.

Unexcused Absences

  • Inclement weather

  • Traffic/Car trouble

  • Missing the bus

  • Oversleeping

  • No written excuse or email

Student Tardy Policy

When a student is tardy, they will report to the tardy stations set up in the cafeteria in the morning, or to Mrs. Sanders in the MAIN OFFICE throughout the school day. The staff member will log their tardy and provide them with a pass to class.

TARDY POLICY
Students arriving after 7:15 a.m. are required to sign-in as tardy, with the exception of students arriving on late buses.  Arrival time of late buses will either be announced or passes will be issued to students. Students who are late to school due to doctor’s appointments must be signed in by the parent or guardian.

When the bell rings indicating the beginning of class, teachers are to immediately close their doors and direct students to the main hallway. No student should be admitted in the classroom without a pass.
